Inspiration

I'm a sports fan, interested in ice hockey and football, and I often want to watch games at a later time. Family dinners and afterwork beers often collide with games, and I want to attend both without spoiling the thrill and entertainment.

What it does

Blocks spoilers from sports and tv that you want to watch later. Perfect when you want to catch that family dinner or afterwork get-together without missing the thrill of the game.

How we built it

With React Native, Expo and with our library react-native-device-activity to provide the Screen Time features.

Challenges we ran into

The Screen Time APIs are pretty finicky to wrap your head around. Very sandboxed and at times unpredictable.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Sneak Peak is a feature we feel works very well, is not straightforward to implement, and something we'll probably end up using in more apps.

What we learned

We learned how to use the features in an optimal way for this use case.

What's next for Spoilerblock

We might look into adding direct integrations with specific calendars - but not sure if it's worth it for a niche product.
