SPOILER FILMS

Colombia has millions of stories to tell, its rich culture deserves to be promoted and told around the world. However, media producers and centralized companies like Netflix or Amazon are taking the whole business for them. The government has some funds available for cultural works in the film industry but that budget is quite small, so many projects can´t see the light unless a private investor is interested in producing any film material.

Looking at that situation, and inspired by blockchain technology, NFTs, and the FILM3 ecosystem, we reached the concept of Spoiler. Spoiler should be a dapp in which creators can submit their projects, backed by NFT collections that can meet producers, collectors, and investors in decentralized film. In that way, then, the community will be able to support any project by collecting NFTs of it. The result: A film completely funded by a decentralized community via NFTs.

The idea is to build a web-mobile dapp in which people can participate, be part of the community, meet creators, buy NFTs, trade them, and support creators. Then, it requires a kind of launchpad to mint NFTs inside the platform, KYC, governance, promotion channels, a submission flux, filters, curators, and more details related to ensuring that the community is receiving high-quality ideas for the ecosystem.

The first challenge is to build the whole dapp to ensure those features. The second is to ensure its stability, scalability, and performance so users can have a smooth, fun experience. The third challenge is to promote this whole new way to produce film in Colombia, amassing a large community that can have an impact on our society, and the world.

One of the accomplishments we have is presenting this idea to the ArtsDAO community, and they showed interest in how the concept was accomplished and the potential that Spoiler can reach. Another accomplishment is: that at the first stages of the project, we had a press conference and appeared on different national television channels and some radio stations, also we had an impact on web3 social media-based journalists who also found the idea innovative and well-oriented to explore the talents in Latin America.

We learned a lot in this journey, Spoiler is still a node, but it can be an excellent platform for creators to tell their stories, and that is our greatest learning: it takes time to build the next unicorn of the FILM3 exosystem.

The next step is to crystalize the idea and develop a first functional mockup that can show how that can operate.
