The team was inspired, based on what problems we faced in our own food waste habits/
What it does
What spoiled does, is put's power into the hands of consumers, and allows consumers full access to information regarding their groceries. Users can access lifetime analysis information, recipes, compost information, and information on how to utilize every aspect of what they are working with. This ensures the minimalization of food waste due to reason such as spoiling, or forgetting about it. There is also a food share option, so if the user accidentally cooks too much food, or realizes they won't be eating something, they have the opportunity to post it on their food share and let their "Spoiled" friends claim it.
How we built it
The app design was conducted in an app, by Henry Huot
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges we ran into, was that the team wanted to keep adding things to the app, but we wanted to keep it simple, but feasible. The team recognized that if we over complicated the app, it would not be user friendly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The team conducted a survey of our community members, and got over 100 results! This was very exciting and we learned a lot about the mindset regarding food waste in our community. The team also worked relentlessly to prepare for this, and we are proud of our outcome.
