Tuition costs keep rising and not every family can afford extra classes. My siblings struggle with the same problem, so I wanted to build something simple that still helps students stay consistent every day. Something small, something daily, something fun. That is how SPMind started.
What it does
SPMind is a 15 minute daily learning app. It begins with a short warm up, followed by a focused lesson, and ends with a quick quiz. It also includes instant note taking. Users can tap record during a class or meeting and SPMind turns the audio into clean sticky notes. When students need a break, they can enter the Lepak Room, a small 8 bit world where they can walk around, explore, and unwind.
How we built it
We built the core flow around a simple 15 minute routine. The note taking system works through speech recognition that converts spoken content into organised sticky notes. The Chill Room is made with lightweight pixel graphics and simple movement logic to keep it fun but not distracting. Everything is designed to load fast and work smoothly on mobile.
Challenges we ran into
Keeping the experience simple was harder than expected. We had many feature ideas but had to cut most of them to maintain the 15 minute daily flow. Designing the Chill Room took time because we wanted it to be relaxing without pulling users away from their study routine. Building smooth real time recording for notes was also challenging.
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
We created a full working cycle of learning, note taking, and relaxing inside one app. We managed to turn a tuition problem into something that feels light and consistent. The sticky note system also came out cleaner than expected and users love the Chill Room.
What we learned
We learned that students do not need long lessons. They need consistency. Short daily routines are easier to maintain than big study sessions. We also learned the importance of designing around emotions. When learning feels heavy, users stop. When it feels light, they stay.
What’s next for SPMind
We want to expand the 15 minute routine into different subjects and levels. We plan to add multiplayer study rooms and more mini games. We also want to improve the note taking system so it can detect key points automatically. The goal is to make SPMind a daily habit for every student, not just a tool.
