Inspiration
I was inspired by the hassle my friends and I always had when planning events into the future. It always seemed like nobody's schedules aligned, and we would refrain from planning anything as a result.
What it does
The format of this calendar app is that it allows a host to invite other users to join, at which time each person can add what times they are available and what times they are not for everyone to see in real time. The website would then try and find the most logical times that are free for the most people.
How I built it
I used React to design the frontend, and Express for the backend.
Challenges we ran into
Working solo was very difficult! I fell asleep and didn't finish the features that would bring everything together.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm glad I learned at least how to set up Socket.io in the short 36 hours that I had. I was able to get the rooms mechanic fully functional without prior knowledge.
What we learned
Looking back, I spent a lot of time on visual elements and making things look pretty, when I should've been working to get as much functionality done as possible.
What's next for Split Second
I may finish up this project in my spare time, given that I still think it's a good idea worth pursuing.
