Inspiration
Especially in college, when you spend so much time with your friends and it's just easier to split the bill and pay someone back later this log of money transfer can be backed up pretty quickly until it is too overwhelming to deal with.
What it does
It allows people to input if any one owes them money or if they owe anyone money and it keeps track of the running total for you. It also has the ability to create groups of people and split the bill evenly that way, adding it to the running total for each person in the group.
How we built it
We built is using React Native and Firebase.
Challenges we ran into
The authentication part took a little longer than we were expecting and we are both pretty new to React Native and Firebase.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we make something that works and is actually something that could be useful. We had both never created a React Native app before so it's very satisfying to do one from start to finish.
What we learned
We learned that things might take longer than we expect at first and that should be expected. We also learned that it's fun to try new things and new technologies and try to figure them out.
What's next for Split
We were thinking about the ability just take a picture of a receipt and the app could itemize it and you would be able to split it evenly or assign items to people.
