Split My Trip

Inspiration

After travelling South East Asia this summer with my friends, I found it very difficult to keep track of expenses and split bills among my friends and I. With different currencies and different groups of friends, how do you keep track?

What it does

This is where Split My Trip comes in! Split my Trip allows users to enter their expenses and calculates how much each person owes their friends who paid for different things. With this application, transactions between people are reduced and expenses are laid out in a clear and organized way.

How I built it

Split My Trip is built on HTML, CSS, Bootstrap and Javascript.

Challenges I ran into

Didn't have a server. Difficult to keep track of expenses. Coming up with the algorithm to reduce transactions.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Front end looks great! Idea and algorithm are clearly laid out, just needs to be implemented.

What I learned

Hackathons are hard but fun!

What's next for Split My Trip

Implementing server and mobile capabilities.
