Inspiration

Many spiritual traditions teach that our actions in this world shape our character and our journey beyond this life. Yet, in the modern era, we often track everything—steps, calories, habits—but rarely our spiritual progress. We wanted to create a tool that makes spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and growth as engaging and accessible as fitness or productivity tracking apps. Spiritual Deeds Tracker was inspired by the universal need to reflect on one’s deeds, celebrate small wins, and prepare for a better self—no matter your background or beliefs.

What it does

Spiritual Deeds Tracker is a cross-platform app that helps users record, track, and gamify their spiritual practices. The app personalizes spiritual deeds and reflections based on each user’s selected path or religion, whether that’s Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Sikhism, or a universal approach. Users can log daily spiritual actions, set goals, join community challenges, track Islamic prayers, earn points and badges, view analytics on their growth, and connect with others on a similar journey. Premium features offer even deeper insights and personalization.

How we built it

We built Spiritual Deeds Tracker with React Native and Expo for seamless cross-platform (iOS & Android) support. The Bolt.new platform enabled rapid prototyping and UI development, while Expo Router provided flexible navigation. Supabase powers our secure backend for authentication and data storage, with Row Level Security for privacy. We integrated RevenueCat for subscriptions and premium features, and used Entri + IONOS for a custom domain. The user interface employs a modern glassmorphism design with animated, responsive elements and built-in dark/light mode. State is managed efficiently using Redux Toolkit.

Challenges we ran into

Designing an inclusive spiritual app for multiple religions required deep research and sensitivity to avoid bias or exclusion.

Balancing a modern gamified experience with respect for diverse spiritual values was challenging, especially for features like streaks and leaderboards.

Integrating multiple services (Supabase, RevenueCat, Entri, Bolt.new) required careful orchestration, especially for user data syncing and offline support.

Ensuring offline-first functionality and smooth background syncing to handle real-world network variability.

Creating a UI that is both modern and respectful of spiritual contexts across different traditions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

What we learned

Designing for inclusivity—especially with spirituality—requires ongoing empathy, research, and feedback.

Users value both privacy and community; giving them control and choice is key.

Bolt.new and the modern toolchain (Supabase, RevenueCat, Expo) can deliver robust, scalable, and beautiful apps faster than traditional methods.

Gamification can motivate spiritual growth if done thoughtfully and with respect.

Building for offline-first is more complex than it appears, but it greatly improves usability and user trust.

What's next for Spiritual Deeds Tracker

Expand the library of spiritual deeds and reflections, with input from diverse communities and faith leaders.

Add deeper analytics and AI-powered spiritual insights (e.g., personalized suggestions, pattern analysis).

Integrate more social features, including private support groups and sharing spiritual reflections.
