Inspiration

Wanted to do something hardware related - NSIN challenge was perfect. Tried to make product as applicable to real life problems as possible.

What it does

IMU-Tracking of head position controls 2-axis gimbal with camera and LiDAR. Camera stream is overlayed with LiDAR outputs and streamed to VR-Headset user is wearing.

How I built it

Built hardware part using 3D Printing, Teensy controller & stepper motors. Integrated limit switches to allow for automatic homing. Software is based on zeroMQ for video streaming, imageZMQ for near-lossless compression enabling almost realtime high quality streaming, OpenCV for Stream Overlay with RPLidar generated point-cloud.
