Inspiration

I often want to write notes to myself, but I know I'll just forget to check them. I thought "what if they could be texted to me when I need them to be?" I tried doing this on habit tracker and other productivity apps, but the notifications were generic. I thought "wouldn't it be funny if character bots could text you reminders like "try out this new exercise at the gym" right when you actually head to the gym"?

What it does

The user creates bots of a character like on character.ai and configures their reminders. The reminders are delivered in the character's voice. For example, if you've described your character as fiery and eccentric, they may deliver a "Remember to drink water" note as "HYDRATE TO VANQUISH YOUR ENEMIES".

Bots of real people and underage characters are prohibited. All content is SFW.

How we built it

As a UX designer, I designed everything by myself in Figma since AI design generators didn't work out for me. For the design, only the colors and a few feature suggestions were AI-generated. Everything else is designer-made.

After completing the designs, I uploaded each screen into Bolt and prompted Bolt to recreate each screen as closely as possible.

Challenges we ran into

The dynamic screens needed a lot of work since the information wasn't routing properly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This was my first time coding an app! I'm glad I briefly learned how to code a few years ago. I can't write code myself, but can understand it.

What we learned

I learned how to use more technical language to make an app be coded how I need it to be.

What's next for Spellnote.ai

There are a lot of features I've designed that currently aren't available in this beta mode. The users should be able to add up to 6 additional characters with each character costing $10/month.
