Challenges we ran into

Since we want it to be an offline app, we look into some of the packages that could perform ocr and text to speech without the use of internet. This leads to many popular models not applicable to us.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We accomplished a semi working app in 24 hours

What we learned

React Native practices changes very fast such that even chatgpt can be outdated.

What's next for Spelling App

Kids mode - Locked the page so that kids can only toggle the spelling page and not looking at the answer Integreation with a hardware so that kids can use a swich to control the spelling app without direct contact with the phone. Randomised order so that there will be n! ways of giving spellings where n is the number of words/phrases. OCR to make keying in spelling words from hardcopy easier.
