Inspiration
Inspired by the Spelling Bee competition, we believe that this app can help kids spell, it's an easy and fun tool to use for everyone of all ages. One of our group members is an international student, and he thought it would help someone in his position. Also many college students take their auto correct for granted and since they are never forced to learn how to spell words and that skill deteriorates over time.
What it does
On this app there are four levels of difficulty to choose from ranging from most likely to encounter to least likely to encounter. Each level will go through a set of words and allow you to listen to the word and give you a definition of the word. After you give your answer it will reveal whether you got the answer right or wrong. In the end you can look look at your stats for the round and choose to play again
How we built it
We built this app through flask and mongodb for the backend. And html and css through the frontend
Challenges we ran into
This was our first time working with API calls and we were a bit worried about how to execute it. In addition, deploying our app seemed to be an issue as well. We had a hard time getting the domain name, and the server, and connecting everything together.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is the first hackathon project we were able to complete until the very end. It seemed very fitting as out last hackathon to go through the entire night and complete it
What we learned
We learned how to manage tasks between a group and how to effectively communicate our ideas.
What's next for Spell in Wonderland
We plan to add a multiplayer feature so that multiple people can vs. each other as they play the game
