Inspiration
We wanted to find a way to reduce carbon emissions through delivery trucks, as they are the highest contributors of all autovehicles,
What it does
It optimally routes the trucks while taking into account routes that will have the least amount of stops and turns as possible. We had this be our biggest priority, as cars burn the most fuel when they are accelerating.
How we built it
We built it using the INRIX and Google Maps API, using languages such as Flask Python, and ReactJs
Challenges we ran into
For most of us, it was our first time using an API, so it was a challenge learning how to use it. Our biggest challenge was the integration of the Front end and the backend of the web app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Im proud that we were able to pick up using the API's fairly quickly. I'm also proud that we were able to spread out the wokr between all of us and support each other through the whole process.
What we learned
We learned how to use API, and how the material we'd learn in class would be applied.
What's next for Speedy Trucks
For the next iteration, we would like to have a more interactive map and a more refined UI.
