The goal of this project was to have an audio transcriber specialized for the peculiar needs of my client, a certain French XRays Specialist with whom I share my last name. Specifically, the needs for a French Doctor for his tool that write his compte rendu are the following :
-Proper writing of named entities : We want the Doctor's name to be spelled correctly, as well as his adress.
-Proper attention to french grammar and all of its edge cases
-Automatic corrections to words based on the context of the doctor
-Formating into Doctor's preferred format
-Sending Compte rendu to patient and other related doctors.
Conclusion : My thoughts on applied AI
Talking with the XRAY specialist, I discovered what he really wanted for a transcription app. Some of the things he suggested like proper grammar check are not things I would care about on my side. So talking with him made it possible for me to get him his perfect transcribe applicaton. Any person looking to developp an AI powered product should take time to talk with professionnals that they'd want to target for said product, and as a developper that wants to implement useful solutions today, keep your hears open for the issues that any professionnal you interract with may face.
