Inspiration

We were given four different problem statements to choose from, and our team selected Speech Coach because we felt it was a useful and practical idea. Many people struggle with speaking confidently and may not notice habits like using filler words, repeating words, or speaking too fast. We wanted to build an app that helps users understand their speaking habits through scores, graphs, and feedback, so they can identify areas to improve and become better speakers.

What It Does

Speech coach listens to your speech and checks different parts of your speaking. It shows things like your speaking speed, filler words, repeated words, pauses and volume. It then gives you a score and simple feedback on what you can improve. You can also track your progress and see if your speaking gets better with practice.

How We Built It

We built speech coach using Python and Streamlit. First, we used speech-to-text to convert the user's voice into text. Then, we analyzed the speech for filler words, repeated words, speaking speed, pauses, and volume. We also added scoring and feedback to show users where they can improve. Finally, we connected everything into a simple website where users can upload or record their speech and see their results.

Accomplishments We Are Proud Of

We are proud that we were able to build a working Speech Coach that can actually analyze a person's speech and give useful feedback. We brought different parts together, like speech-to-text, filler word detection, scoring and progress tracking. We are also happy that users can see their mistakes clearly and understand what they can improve with practice.
