Inspiration
Daniel and I discovered that accessing the full spectrum of perspectives on geopolitical events—including the most marginalized voices—remains frustratingly difficult. We believe truth isn't something we deliver to people, but something they discover when given complete information.
When people can see across the entire landscape of human thought, they naturally find their own center and develop genuine understanding of complex conflicts. Our mission is to tear down information silos and create space for authentic dialogue, trusting that informed citizens will collectively navigate toward truth.
We're not here to curate reality—we're here to make it fully visible.
What it does
We built a web based app with a 3D model of the world. We are scraping Telegram groups to do two things; geolocating events that happened on the map and feeding what people said to the agent which relays the information as news feed to the user. User can have a conversation with the agent about the news.
How we built it
- coded the interface with the map using Mapbox to get lat, longs for the events
- used telegram API to take conversations content, on daily basis
- Feed the conversations into the ElevenLabs conversational agent
- added the Agent to our interface enabling users to get the news spectrum and to talk about it
Challenges we ran into
- hardships in feeding data dynamically to ElevenLabs agent
- compressing data from telegram chats into the doc to upload to ElevenLabs portal
- cleaning up the telegram data and forming lang graph automations to geolocate them based on text
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- getting the telegram api working
- locating events from around the world on our 3D map via LLM prompting and co-referencing to mapbox data
What we learned
- using ElevenLabs voice agent
- using Cursor for me (Sonia coded for the first time in her life)
- the various shortcuts needed to take to get the result done in such short time
What's next for Spectrum
- uploading more channels like reddit, etc to make spectrum as wide as possible
Built With
- javascript
- langraph
- mapbox
- python
- telegram-api
