Inspiration

Being busy college students, we wanted to make an app that would increase productivity and help improve the mental health of students. Many of our study breaks are spent in counter-productive ways: eating snacks, scrolling through instagram, or watching YouTube videos. We wanted to encourage users to spend their time not working more meaningfully. Our goal is to encourage heathy, mindful activities that help the user feel ready to tackle every project life throws at them.

What it does

Our app gives users the options to set a period of time to work and a period of time to destress afterwards with a randomly generated activity. The app provides a timer so users can keep track of how much time they have left for each activity. Break times are automatically generated based on the work time that the user inputs.

How I built it

Sketch, Java code, Android Studio.

Challenges I ran into

Couldn't make the buttons work, had to change the layouts, figuring out how to make sketch work with android studio.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The yoga people that Sarah designed. Being able to take sketch image files and put them into android studio.

What I learned

Learned how to use sketch and android studio collectively. Learned how to combine frontend and backend with different programs. Learned how to use layers with buttons and backgrounds on android studio.

What's next for spectra_hack

Continue improving on product for more activities and graphics.
