Inspiration This project is a culmination of our experiences and interests. Many of us have known and worked with children who are on the spectrum, and we also have passions for fields such as neuroscience, technology, music.
What it does. It increases accessibility to sensory integration therapy through sound and music by providing an interactive sound bank and activities to help implement the therapy.
How I built it. We constructed a relational database using sql to code the mp3 files, and then used a digital platform called Simbla to build an interactive website.
Challenges I ran into We had trouble coding the mp3 files and linking the database to all pages of the website and formatting the website.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of creating a functional and working database that can be accessed from anywhere on the site. We also created specific fields that describe the data within the database.
What I learned how to build a database, integrate it into a website, and design the website itself.
What's next for Spectra We hope to develop it into an app to increase accessibility, add bluetooth capabilities, and expand our audience so that our services can be accessed by a wider range of individuals, such as those who struggle with ADHD, dyslexia, etc.
