Inspiration

Today, finding internships are harder than they’ve ever been for college students. We wanted to create something that would help people of varying skill levels find internships that would fit their expertise and skill level.

What it does

We created a webpage that determines the computer science skills of a user and then uses that data to bring up internships that would best fit their skill set.

How we built it

We created a webpage using React, JavaScript, HTML/CSS and used Firebase for the database.

Challenges we ran into

Incorporating Firebase as our database was one of the challenges we faced. It took multiple hours before we were able to connect our database to the webpage. Additionally, we initially planned to include a message system within our project. However, time constraints led to us eventually dropping the idea.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of creating a nice-looking UI and a good algorithm considering the time constraints.

What we learned

We learned how to use Firebase in order to incorporate an easy-to-use database. Some of our members had never created a webpage in the past so this gave those group members good experience for the future.

What's next for Specialized Success

Incorporating the message system would be the next step in sanding off the edges of this project. We could also increase the effectiveness of our survey, maybe with example problems that could help verify if the answers users gave for the survey are correct.
