Inspiration I was inspired by EchoAR as well as the Build a Website featured on Enlight.nyc (open source code).
What it does It allows the user to click on surprise envelopes that lead to augmented reality animals! This website is geared to anyone who loves surprises and animals! This project is innovative because it is a different way of using augmented reality (instead of on an app, it's on a website). This project extends to make the world a kinder place because it may make people happy from the unexpected surprise! The website leads to three possible animals that the user can see in augmented reality. :)
Challenges I ran into: One challenge I ran into was opening the Open Source website with Notepad and converting it to HTML. This took me a long time, and I had to restart a couple times. I realized that something was going wrong because the pathway on my computer was unable to open the zip file correctly. I also had challenges changing the font, because when I would change the font in the code, it would not translate to the website. Therefore, I had to change the font back to the original in order for my website to work.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of: Something I'm proud of is that I was able to attach the links of the augmented reality animals within the structure of the website! It was really fun to do. I loved it.
What I learned: This is my first hackathon, so everything I did today was new! I learned about how HTML and CSS works in building webpages. I also learned more about linking websites within websites, and how to manipulate certain aspects of code. Also, I learned about spacing between text and how to manipulate the text in the html code.
What's next for Special Surprise: I hope to continue working on this project and maybe implementing different images, text boxes, and colors. Although I changed the font, I had to change it back because it was causing errors. This is something I could work on in the future.
