Inspiration

We all have moments where we struggle to find the right words whether it's giving a wedding toast, writing a resignation letter, or simply apologizing to a friend. Too often, these emotionally important moments get delayed or avoided entirely because we don’t know how to express ourselves.

That’s where the idea for SpeakUp AI was born: a one-prompt tool that could understand what you want to say and how you want to say it then deliver it beautifully, in your voice.

The inspiration came from real-life experiences: helping friends draft farewell letters, writing love notes that felt robotic, and even freezing during speeches. We wanted to make it effortless for anyone techie or not to express themselves genuinely, in any format or tone.

What it does

SpeakUp AI lets users generate fully personalized:

All from a single natural prompt, like:

"Write a professional resignation email in a polite tone for a toxic boss"

Users can customize:

Format (email, letter, toast, poem, etc.)
Tone (funny, formal, emotional, poetic, spiritual, etc.)
Length (short to long-form)
Voice playback (child, teen, adult male/female)

It also supports:

Accurate structure (subject lines, greetings, sign-offs)
Multilingual messages
Downloadable files (PDF, DOCX, MP3)
Emotional sticker packs and voice tone matching

How I built it

We used Bolt’s AI prompt engine to design an intelligent one-shot prompt system that:

Parses user input
Understands context (occasion, tone, relationship, format)
Generates accurate, human-level emotional content

We created a detailed system prompt to enforce structure, prevent filler/demo content, and adapt to real-world scenarios.

The voice synthesis is handled by real-time text-to-speech APIs, and the UI is clean, mobile-friendly, and centered around accessibility especially for emotionally vulnerable users.

We also included a robust export system (text, PDF, audio) and "tweak" tools to rewrite content in different tones instantly.

Challenges I ran into

Accuracy: Getting the AI to follow exact formatting and tone instructions was difficult especially when users gave vague prompts. I tried solving this though it's not fully functional yet but it's working with a smart follow-up questioning system.
Voice integration: Matching voice playback tone to emotional writing took extra testing and adjustments.
Length control: Ensuring consistent output for long-form letters and speeches while avoiding token overuse required multiple passes.
Realism vs. filler: Preventing AI from generating placeholder names or demo content was tricky we had to train it to stick strictly to the user prompt.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

Created a one-prompt emotional writing tool that actually works for real-life needs not just demos.
Made something anyone can use from a grieving grandparent to a nervous best man to a remote worker writing an email.
Enabled voice expression and emotional accuracy in multiple styles.
Built a true zero-writer’s-block engine we’ve already used it ourselves!

What I have learned

Simplicity wins. A single smart input field, when paired with deep logic and flexible output, can solve powerful real-world problems.
Emotional communication is not just for social apps professionals, students, and families need help saying the right thing too.
Users care about accuracy, tone, and realism more than flashy design.
Bolt’s one-shot engine, when properly instructed, can act as a genuinely helpful communication tool.
