🌌 About the Project: Spaz — A Social Media from the Stars
💡 Inspiration
I've spent years drifting across social media — endless scrolls, algorithm-driven content, and shallow connections. Like many, I began to feel burnt out, overwhelmed, and frankly... lost.
My attention span was slipping away, and my online life felt more performative than personal.
That’s when the idea for Spaz hit me:
What if social media wasn’t about followers, filters, or fakes…
What if it was about being real — and reaching for something bigger?
Inspired by the universe, I created Spaz, where:
- Every user is a star
- Every post is a spark
- Every theme is a planet
- And Earth… is the one place we’ve escaped 🪐
🧠 What I Learned
- Simplicity drives emotional connection
- Anonymous expression creates authenticity
- Designing with care for mental health builds trust
- Attention is our most precious currency — and we’re wasting it
🛠️ How We Built It
We built Spaz using Bolt.new, a rapid AI-first development platform. It allowed us to design, prototype, and launch with incredible speed and clarity. From animations to data flow, Bolt empowered us to focus on storytelling, not boilerplate.
We imagined and implemented:
- A scroll-based interaction system driven by “hold to support”
- Thematic zones (planets) to match different emotions
- Anonymous posting engine with whispers, sparks, and stories
- A mini game engine to deliver short, engaging puzzles & exercises
🚧 Challenges We Faced
- Keeping the UX minimal but meaningful
- Balancing anonymity with safety
- Creating a system that’s addictive in a healthy way
- Designing something bold enough to challenge the norms of social media
Built With
- bolt
- netlify
- postgresql
- supabase
- typescript
