Inspiration
Websites can be used to provide entertainment instead of just information. Websites like those found on the 'bored button'.
What it does
Our website provides a joke to the user when they press the "Give me a Joke Button". They can then press this button again to get another joke. These jokes are stored on Firebase.
How we built it
This was built on HTML, CSS and JavaScript with React being used to store and call jokes.
Challenges we ran into
As we are all first-time hack-a-toners, we struggled to use programs like GitHub to share code with each other. In addition, none of us had experience with React or JavaScript so we had to learn how to use these languages.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to make a functioning website that used databases and used user input to provide them with a product. We also were able to get React to function with our code, storing data.
What we learned
We all got more familiar with JavaScript and HTML and how they interact to create a website. We also learned how to store values in databases.
What's next for SpartaLaugh
If we continue to develop this product in the future, we would like to work on making the user interface more amenable and taking in more information to provide better community results to the user. This info could be used to give a joke rating to the user.
