Inspiration
We want Sparkle to not only help users find new adventures but also highlight small businesses and help them shine!
What it does
Sparkle will show the closest shop locations from a given category and give a description of the shop and it's history in the area. We wanted Sparkle to bring light to smaller businesses that don't get much recognition and are hard to locate due to being overpopulated by other mainstream businesses.
How we built it
We used a collaborative interface design tool (Figma) for prototyping, to give us an idea of how to go about implementing features. We used React and JavaScript to actually build the front end and have it resemble the prototype. As for the backend, we used C#.
Challenges we ran into
We mainly had troubles with ASP.NET, and we also had to deal with CSS in front end development.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our semi finished product! We were able to make the app look like we had envisioned in such a small development window.
What we learned
We all learned something new! We learned how to use a new design interface, C#, CSS, and SQL to build our project.
What's next for Sparkle
Since we had a small development window, we didn't get to implement all the features we wanted. Adding a map to would be incredibly helpful since a lot of the times these small business's aren't even listed on our maps. This would allow users to easily locate and navigate to these businesses.
