Inspiration

Millions of students around the world struggle with a lack of resources. There are countless potential Newtons and Einsteins in today’s day and age, but we don’t really get to see them flourish because they don’t have the right materials at hand to learn. That’s where SparkBook comes in.

What it does

SparkBook is an ultra-personalized flipbook generator that is completely adaptable to a student’s needs and interests. Essentially, sparkbook creates a custom flipbook to help a student learn about a certain topic that they’re struggling with.

How we built it

I solely created this application using the Flask Framework, Python, Bootstrap, several of OpenAI APIs, Hyzeiene PDF to Flipbook API, and Firebase Storage.

Challenges we ran into

As I was the sole developer of this application, it was quite difficult to create all the needed components I had in mind within the given time frame.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm very proud that I was able to get SparkBook to work in the way I intended! It took lots of trial and error.

What we learned

I mainly learned how to work with the hyzeine pdf to flipbook API. Additionally, I learned how to upload files to Firebase Storage.

What's next for SparkBook

Many things! Namely and most importantly, ensuring SparkBook can work offline for those with low internet access.
