SpaceTime

🌠 Inspiration

We realized every birthday isn’t just about cake and candles—somewhere in space, something cool happened on that exact date. We wanted to give everyone an easy, fun way to see how their own story lines up with humanity’s cosmic adventures.

🚀 What It Does

  1. Interactive Space Timeline

    • Scroll through past and present space milestones
    • Filter by year or event type
    • Tap an item to read a quick, friendly summary
  2. Cosmic Birthday Explorer

    • Enter your birth date → get a list of missions, launches, or discoveries from that day
    • Short, fun “did‑you‑know?” blurbs keep things light
  3. NASA Picture of the Day

    • See today’s jaw‑dropping NASA image (or pick any date)
    • One‑click HD view and simple share button

🛠️ How We Built It

  • React + TypeScript (fast, safe, and snappy)
  • Vite for instant reloads
  • TailwindCSS + shadcn/ui for the clean cosmic look
  • APIs: NASA APOD, Spaceflight News, Space Launch Live, SpaceX

⚔️ Challenges

  • Juggling different API formats and rate limits
  • Keeping big image files quick to load
  • Making sure animations look smooth on slow devices

🎉 What We’re Proud Of

  • Multiple space APIs talking together without hiccups
  • A friendly interface that works great on phone or desktop
  • Solid TypeScript code that’s easy to reuse and extend

🤓 What We Learned

  • Smarter React patterns & hooks
  • How to polish performance (lazy loading, caching, etc.)
  • Ways to blend fun design with accessibility

🔮 What’s Next

  • User accounts for saved timelines and alerts
  • Social sharing so friends can compare space birthdays
  • PWA offline mode for stargazing with spotty internet
  • More APIs (space weather, ESA, ISRO)
  • Community features—comments, discussions, and expert Q&As

SpaceTime’s mission is simple: make space history feel personal and exciting for everyone. We’re just getting started. 🚀
