COVID-19 was an unfortunate disaster that brought lot of challenges and hurdles to humanity. While the medical community is working non-stop to come up with a solution, we are taking mitigation steps such as social distancing and isolation to prevent the spread of this virus and flatten the curve. Though this might sound like an excellent defensive mechanism, we should be considering the impacts this would bring to humanity in terms of depression, panic, negative feelings, financial instability and so on. I always aspired to make the game like experiences more Ubiquitous and with social isolation going everywhere, I think humanity could greatly benefit from the possibility of living in a virtual universe. Some references: Ready Player One, Animal Crossing

What it does

It basically allows a person to have a virtual presence in a whole virtual universe. Players can then take part in community activities just like how they do in the real world. They can build connections, travel the universe, create wellness, learn/share knowledge, play games and so much more.

How I built it

  • Unreal Engine
  • C++
  • Marketplace Assets (Will be replaced with project themed art & style)
  • Mixamo animations (Will have custom rigging & animations based on the project theme)

Challenges I ran into

  • Believability vs Cartoonish feel
  • Showcasing more virtual living concepts (Achievable but beyond the scope of this hackathon)

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Being able to showcase three virtual concepts related to

  • Wellness
  • Travel
  • Connections

What I learned

This idea can revolutionize the way we would interact with people. We need this project to go live more than any time now as the possibility of doing things through virtual presence could help communities that are affected by this social isolation. Looking to see what mentorship support I could get from this submission.
