Inspiration

We are three students from the FIB who decided to participate in our first hackathon!! Given that this year theme was free we decided to create a retro style based game called Space Shooter. After all we are enthusiasts about the videogame world who finally created their first game.

What it does

Space Shooter is a game that takes place in space, your mission there is to survive and get rid of enemies who wants to the defeat you, meanwhile you will also have to deal with asteroids which disturbs you from you main mission.

How we built it

To build this game we used unity engine. Each one knew some concepts about the creation of a game, so we decided to divide the work in first place and then merge the job done later.

Challenges we ran into

Through the process of development we got many issues (a part from compilation errors which are very naughty) and we mainly solved them by researching and reading documentation on internet. For example, we had to deal with an error which make your score appear duplicate once you finish the game, so we had to go through the entire code and finally found that the instruction was executed twice in different places.

What we learned

Since any of us knew how to make an entire game by himself when we merged the work we explained each other how have we done our part, therefore we understood the part we weren't familiarized with.

What's next for SpaceShooter

Since this have has only the basics we wish to be able to release updates to this game which will able the player to get other ships with different characteristics. Other things we also would like to put in our game would be bosses which would increase the difficulty and make less monotone our videogame
