Inspiration
You know all of those great ideas that you just wake up with? Or you zone out thinking about some really cool idea? We wanted to create an app/website that allows these ideas to come to life. We based our idea around the premise of a dating app but instead of finding a date, people can pitch their day dreamt ideas and creators can be matched to these ideas.
What it does
The idea of our site is to allow imaginative thinkers to add their ideas to their profile as “pitches”. Creators can then look through a set of pitches and be “matched” with one or more of these pitches to get to work and turn the ideas into reality.
Challenges we ran into/What we learned
The hardest part for us was figuring out how to connect the front end features to back end features.
We learned it is probably good to start with front end and then do the back end as we ended up having to rework a lot of the functionality once we set everything up.
We previously had the experience to get the frontend and backend pieces working separately but connecting them together was new for us and we are very pleased we were able to this!
What's next for SpaceOut
Get it working in app form!
We also implemented a random algorithm and the Gale-Shapley/Perfect Marriage algorithm used in most dating apps in the backend but we would like to connect it to the front end!
Additionally, there are always more features we could be adding to improve user experience!
