Inspiration

As a vibe coder, I love experimenting with tools that amplify creativity through code. I came across Bolt.new and the world's largest hackathon was amazed by how easily it lets developers build full-stack apps with AI. I decided to test it by building an idea i wanted to create in recent times — a platform that blends AI, design, and blockchain. That's how SpaceMint was born.

What it does

SpaceMint allows users to upload a photo of their room and instantly get an AI-generated interior design based on the theme they choose. Interior designers can contribute their own custom layouts, earn Solana tokens, and showcase their work in a public design marketplace. General users can explore designs, contact designers, or use AI to style their own spaces. It’s a blend of creativity, utility, and decentralized earning.

How we built it

I built SpaceMint using Bolt.new, Bolt handled the setup of core services — frontend UI, backend endpoints, Firebase integration, and Solana wallet connectivity. I focused on iterating the design logic, user flow, and styling using the Bolt-generated base, tweaking the TSX and Next.js files as needed. Bolt was key in accelerating development and turning an idea into a product within hours.

Challenges we ran into

Learning to frame clear and detailed prompts for Bolt.new was a challenge at first, since the output depends heavily on the input. Connecting Solana wallets in a smooth and secure way also took some troubleshooting, especially for designer onboarding. Finally, ensuring that the AI-generated designs were visually aligned with the themes required multiple iterations and design validations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud that I could take a complex concept — involving AI image design, theme customization, Web3 payments, and a design marketplace — and actually make it functional using Bolt.new. Seeing users log in, upload their rooms, and view AI-generated designs was extremely rewarding. Also, integrating Solana wallet support for designers and enabling token-based rewards felt like a real milestone.

What we learned

I learned how powerful AI tools like Bolt.new can be when paired with a clear product vision. I gained practical experience with image handling, theme-driven design UX, and wallet integrations on Solana. I also learned how to iteratively prompt and refine app generation workflows, which drastically reduced development time without sacrificing control over the code.

What's next for SpaceMint

Next steps include:

  • Improving the AI's design quality and adding AR/3D previews
  • Expanding theme customization for users
  • Launching a curated designer portal with token rewards
  • Opening up the marketplace for users to purchase full design packages SpaceMint is just getting started, and I’m excited to grow it with the help of tools like Bolt and Web3.
