Space X Falcon Heavy
What it does
Simulates the Falcon Heavy by SpaceX which is the most powerful rocket in history. This simulation includes the first and second stages of the rocket, audio, and altitude/time read outs.
How I built it
Lead designer used a combination of Unity 3D, Blender, and C# to model the rocket and the effects of flight and rocket stages. The lead audio technician created custom audio for the rocket lift-off and and flight. Trouble shooting and logic operations were performed by out third member to assist in debugging and problem solving.
Challenges I ran into
Some issues were that the camera used will affect computer vision and the use of Unity AR software packages proved to be more difficult than expected.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud that our group was able to use augmented reality to simulate the Falcon Heavy rocket.
What I learned
New things that we have learned as a team are the uses for Unity outside of game design and relating to the application of machine vision.
What's next for Space X Falcon Heavy Simulator
The next improvements made to the Space X Falcon Heavy Simulator is to have more educational information on the application. This would include information about the rocket and the Space X program. We would also like to include an improved visualization of the information in relation to the rocket and improved simulation of the rocket's stages.
