Inspiration
We chose to take it easy this hackathon since it's almost the end of the school year and we tried really hard on another hackathon about a month ago (HooHacks, which was hosted by UVA).
What it does
I think it is pretty self explanatory.
How we built it
We started with Keshav drawing the sprites and Sean and Satvik focusing on the gameplay and the basics of how the potatoes interacted with each other. By the end of the project, Keshav ended up focusing on drawing all of the artwork for the game and Sean and Satvik did the coding. At the very end all of the hard stuff was done so we all just tried to have fun by adding a soundtrack and sound effects :).
Challenges we ran into
The main obstacle we ran into was the random generation of the asteroids, which we resolved by setting spawn rate, position, and angle manually (this is discussed in our video).
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating all of the artwork and a completely original soundtrack from the ground up.
What's next for Space Potato Laser Tag
Our next step is to release this masterpiece on Steam and garner a cult following of millions of devoted players.
