Inspiration

We were inspired by apps like google earth, where you can move around and explore the areas around you.

What it does

There is a search function where you can find any of the planets or stars in the nasa database and find out their information (Ex. Radius, distance from earth, etc.). There is also a 3D space with a camera that can be moved around to look at a representation of the locations of the planets and stars.

How we built it

We used Godot 4.3 in order to build our program as we thought it would be easiest to make the 3D space there. Our information came from NASA databases. We also heavily relied on dictionaries.

Challenges we ran into

At many points along the way, everything just stopped working for reasons that we were unsure of, which caused to spend hours debugging what would typically be relatively small things. The light emissions from the stars also didn’t work properly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The list of planets that we made and the fact that it can access all of the information about planets and stars.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how to use dictionaries and pull from databases in order to make something relatively coherent.

What's next for Boggle Planets

What’s next would be to actually make the 3D space look good, so adding textures to the planets and trying to fix the stars light emissions. It would also be to add more parameters to the search so planets and stars could be found easier.
