This project examines how the growth in the space economy is reshaping employment and compensation.

Inspiration

We felt this track was highly applicable to the real world. As a team, we are all fascinated by Economics and Business, and we were excited to combine our knowledge of Data and Computer Science with these fields. Our project's purpose was to inform and provide insight on employment and compensation trends across the space economy.

Methodology

We focused on five key industries: Manufacturing, Information, Wholesale Trade, Professional & Business Services, and Educational Services. Using Visual Studio Code, we cleaned the data, built visualizations, and analyzed trends in employment and compensation across these industries. These visualizations allowed us to identify meaningful patterns and insights.

Challenges

We initially struggled with misunderstanding and misinterpreting the data. After that, our main challenge was deciding how to present our findings clearly. We also learned the importance of being flexible, as we tweaked our claims multiple times based on what the data revealed.

Collaboration & Skills

We are proud of our team communication and collaboration. Everyone listened to each other's ideas and worked together to develop a project that was feasible and interesting. We combined our skills efficiently to complete the analysis and visualizations.

What We Learned

  • Be flexible: It's important not to get too attached to a single idea as the data might lead you elsewhere
  • Effective communication matters: Clear discussion helped us navigate challenges and use everyone's strengths.
