What it does
We are developing a satellite messaging app. When the satellite you pick passes overhead, we will remind you to record your current mood. At the same time, you can see the emotions that others have shared on this satellite
How we built it
we created a prototype using Figma, then used Swift storyboard to visually lay out the various screens and elements of the app, making it easier to create a cohesive and user-friendly experience
Challenges we ran into
When we were deciding on the theme for our project, we were unsure whether to incorporate social features into our software, as we were concerned that adding social elements might contradict our initial concept of positioning this software as a tool for reclaiming one's personal space. Therefore, within our team, we utilized the Agile method to rank the features we wanted to launch in our first version.
Ultimately, we decided that our initial release would only include basic functions such as sending and receiving messages. We plan to selectively introduce social features in the second version of the software. This approach allows us to maintain a clear focus on providing a private and personal space in the initial release while keeping the option open to expand into social interactions in subsequent iterations
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Within our team, we categorized and summarized our ideas using various design theory methods. We designed the user interface (UI) and established the format for page development. Thanks to the incorporation of design methods, we smoothly clarified the theme and ultimately completed the project.
What we learned
We learned that when communicating with friends from different backgrounds, it is essential to actively listen to their opinions based on their professional expertise. By understanding each other's perspectives, we can effectively and smoothly achieve the project goals we set.
In the collaborative process, we discovered that diversity in thought and expertise can be a tremendous asset. By embracing different viewpoints and expertise, we were able to leverage the strengths of each team member and harness their unique insights to make informed decisions and drive the project forward.
This experience highlighted the importance of open communication and the willingness to bridge gaps in understanding, ultimately leading to a more successful and harmonious collaborative effort
What's next for Space Drift
At the moment, our software is solely in the messaging phase, but in the future, we plan to introduce social features. For instance, we aim to include functions like chat matching, group chats, and more. This will allow you to connect with people who are stargazing at the same time as you.
Expanding our software to include these social features opens up exciting possibilities for users. Chat matching can pair you with like-minded stargazers, facilitating discussions and the exchange of celestial observations. Group chats will enable communities of astronomy enthusiasts to come together, share their experiences, and learn from one another. These social elements will enhance the overall user experience and foster a sense of connection and collaboration among those who share a passion for stargazing.
By combining the messaging foundation with these forthcoming social features, our software will evolve into a versatile platform that caters to both personal contemplation and social engagement within the realm of stargazing
