Project Overview
As current college students, our team understands the pressure of walking into a university building and facing hundreds of other individuals. We collectively as a group agreed that this challenge has made us avoid certain spaces on campus which takes away from the overall college experience.
The solution is simple, we built a product that targets individuals who struggle with social anxiety and will help them overcome their fear within the domain of mental health.
How it works
- QR code is presented at the entrance of a building
- User scans and is presented with color-coded noise level preference options
- User is immediately prompted with navigation symbols to lead them to an environment that matches their preference
- User is presented with an environment that turns into the color that matches the noise preference button leading to a state of calmness and sense of security
Design Process
- We used Figma to design the user interface buttons and imported them into Scenery for 3D modeling
- We used Canva to create future map floor plan layouts of different buildings to prompt user to select a space on the map that matches noise level preference
- We used VideoStar for media clip editing as shown in our demo video
Challenges
- Our group was faced with multiple challenges throughout this design process. One main issue was making our product strictly an augmented reality experience. We thought to ourselves, how can we build something that is accessible to all individuals, not just ones who experience social anxiety? How can we incorporate features to make this experience immersive to instill a feeling of calmness?
Future Implications
- Implementing a database that incorporates user feedback from survey responses on product usability and efficiency
- Programming a noise level detection feature using Scenery's programming features to speed up the navigation process
- Including a medium level noise preference to make the product more accessible to all users
