Inspiration
Our game, Space Adventure, was inspired by our group’s shared passion for engineering and space. We were fascinated by how much of the universe remains unexplored, and that curiosity led us to create something of our own. Combining our love for coding with our interest in space, we developed Space Adventure—a fun and accessible game that captures the thrill of building rockets and exploring the unknown. Whether you’re a beginner or a space enthusiast, this game offers a simple yet exciting way to experience space exploration and express your creativity.
What we learned
Throughout the process of building Space Adventure, we learned a lot. One of the biggest lessons was how to balance the game between being realistic and fun while also learning a new programming language . We also gained experience with programming in a different language, debugging, and testing, and we improved our teamwork by dividing tasks and helping each other when we ran into problems. The project taught us how important clear communication and persistence are when building something from scratch.
Challenges we ran into
We faced several challenges along the way, especially because we were learning everything as we went. Understanding how Pygame works—like how to manage game loops, render images, and handle collisions—was hard at first. Coding the game took a lot of trial , we had to debug every line of code to find out why. Learning a whole new language and library while building the game made things even more difficult, but it also made every small win feel even more rewarding. Despite the obstacles, we were able to build a game that we’re really proud of and that taught us more than we expected.
How we built our project
To build Space Adventure, we used Python and Pygame as our main tools. The game lets players build and launch a rocket to explore different planets while also letting the user mine asteroids for money. steer it using keyboard controls, We kept the gameplay simple and accessible, but still a little bit realistic enough to make it fun. One of Even though the graphics are simple, they helped make the game feel complete and smooth to play.
