Inspiration

I wanted to make an educational game for kids that want to learn sight words with a theme of outerspace/aliens since my little brother likes to play educational games in order to learn and memorize. Due to the lack of time, I chose to stick with the space theme though I changed the challenge I wanted to participate in.

What it does

My program runs a variety of sprites and moves them around in order to show the alien sprites run away from the ship.

How we built it

I tried to relearn Game lab in code.org. I am better web-developing but I wanted to try something different for the experience.

Challenges we ran into

I originally wanted to create a "typing" game that would let kids advance through different levels by typing different sight words. In the process, later I found out that Game lab didn't allow that type of keyboard input and I was unfortunately pushed to change my program and the challenge I was doing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm glad that I was able to get better at Java script through game lab because I hadn't used game lab in over a year. I found my program really weird-looking and that is what led me to choosing the weird/crazy project.

What we learned

I learned different ways to structure, I got more into depth about conditionals when trying to see what worked best.

What's next for Space

After this challenge is over, I will try to merge both of these challenges into a game that I will work on with different resources to see how far I can get with it.
