For many new hackers, it's difficult to get into tech. There's no place to connect with people in the hackathon community, and the only option is to go to a hackathon alone and work with strangers. All of us had a similar experience at our first few hackathons.
We wanted to create a platform where people can easily connect with other hackers, which would be helpful for newcomers and veterans alike.
What it does
Soylent Meets Pizza allows users to browse other hackers' profiles and chat with them. Users can look at different people's bios, skillsets, and links. They can then chat with people they'd like to connect with, and if they're a good match, they can choose to work together.
How we built it
We used Vue.js to create a web application, which we hosted with Heroku. We used Firebase to store user profiles and chat history.
Challenges we ran into
It was our first time working with Vue, so we ran into many challenges and learned a lot along the way.
What's next for SoylentMeetsPizza
We want to get as many hackers on the platform as possible and advertise it to people who aren't in the community.
