Inspiration
Souvy was birthed from my wife's business, Omkits, which specializes in souvenirs and household essentials. Through years of operation, we identified a critical friction point: whether it was an individual seeking a birthday gift, an HR manager building employee welcome packages, or an event organizer prepping speaker merch—everyone wanted personalization.
However, the process was entirely manual. We spent endless hours on back-and-forth emails, multiple design revisions, and manual logo placements. This lack of a "single source of truth" often led to errors and delayed deliveries. We realized that for gifting to be truly intentional, the user needed to be in the director's chair.
What it does
Souvy by Omkits is an AI-integrated ecosystem that automates the transition from "product" to "personalized keepsake."
The Shop: Users select premium souvenirs from a curated catalog.
Souvy Edit (The Design Canvas): Users load their items into an intelligent design workspace (Souvy Edit) where Gemini 3 acts as a vision expert. By leveraging its multimodal capabilities, Gemini 3 automatically isolates the souvenir from its environment to calculate precise, "safe printable area" boundaries. This ensures that even when products are photographed in complex settings, users have a perfectly defined zone for their logos and branding.
The AI Note Assistant: For users who struggle with the right words, our Gemini3-powered engine generates heartfelt, occasion-specific notes that are printed and delivered with the gift.
AI Payment Verification: To streamline the checkout process, Gemini 3 performs real-time analysis of bank transfer receipts. The model validates that the uploaded image matches the order amount and recipient bank details. If an incorrect file is uploaded (e.g., a campaign poster instead of a receipt), Gemini 3 identifies the image type and provides instant corrective feedback, significantly reducing fraudulent or accidental "wrong-file" uploads for the admin to later confirm.
One-Stop Logistics: We handle the engraving, kitting, and delivery, turning a complex manual process into a seamless digital experience.
How we built it
We utilized a "vibe coding" approach to bridge the gap between our existing e-commerce infrastructure and the new customization layer.
- Gemini 3 Flash: Powers the AI Sidenote Generator, analyzing the gift type and occasion to draft perfectly toned messages.
- Interactive Canvas: Built a frontend environment where SVG/PNG assets can be mapped to real-world product coordinates.
- Multimodal Logic: We are exploring Gemini’s ability to "see" a user's uploaded logo and suggest complementary color palettes or placement styles on the product.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was translating manual "human" design constraints into a digital canvas. Ensuring that a logo uploaded by a user would actually look good when laser-engraved on a curved surface (like a kettle) required strict metadata mapping. Additionally, fine-tuning the AI to write notes that felt "human" and "warm" rather than robotic took several iterations of prompt engineering.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Bridging the Physical-Digital Gap: We successfully moved a high-friction, manual design process (emails and manual mockups) into a real-time, user-controlled digital canvas using Gemini 3.
- Gemini-Powered Sentiment: Successfully integrating Gemini 3 Flash to solve "writer's block." Our AI Sidenote generator doesn't just write text; it captures the emotional "vibe" of the gift, making the technology feel human.
- 80% Operational Efficiency: By automating the design revision cycle through the Souvy Edit canvas, we’ve effectively eliminated the "revision loop" that previously slowed down our production by days.
- Inclusive Design: Using "vibe coding" allowed us to focus on the user experience and the "soul" of the brand rather than getting bogged down in complex boilerplate code, proving that great products can be birthed from deep domain expertise and AI collaboration.
What we learned
We learned that AI isn't just for "generating content"—it's a massive tool for logistical relief. By shifting the design and sentiment-writing to Gemini and the Souvy Edit canvas, we’ve reduced our manual revision time by nearly 80%, allowing the business to scale while maintaining a personal touch for every single guest and friend.
What's next for Souvy Edit: AI-Driven Bespoke Gifting
- Multimodal Design Critique: We plan to implement Gemini’s vision capabilities to act as a "Virtual Design Assistant," giving users real-time feedback on logo placement, contrast, and printability.
- The "Social Gifting" Network: Expanding the wishlist feature into a collaborative registry where friends can "chip in" for higher-priced souvenirs, all managed through a single AI-tracked dashboard.
- AR Preview Mode: Integrating Augmented Reality so users can see exactly how a personalized bowl or kettle will look in their own living room before they hit "Order."
- Global Logistics Expansion: Scaling the backend to support international "Souvy Hubs," allowing us to fulfill localized souvenirs with the same AI-driven personalization anywhere in the world.
- B2B Dashboard: Building a dedicated portal for Event Organizers to manage thousands of unique guest personalizations using AI-driven CSV mapping and quality control.
