Inspiration
When you are abroad, you don't have always the time to stop by a Souvenirs shop to buy stuff for your friends and family.
What it does
Create your own souvenirs while you travel, at anytime, on the plane, the bus, having a coffee... Your souvenirs will be delivered by the postal service to your friends' addresses even before you get back home. You can send the same postcard for many people customizing the message for each person.
How I built it
It is an Ionic (Cordova + Angular.js) application, using many Cordova and third party plugins. Currently it is a web and Android app can be easily ported to iOS. It is integrated with PayPal payments and Kite.ly for manufacturing and delivering of products (currently postcard).
Challenges I ran into
Rendering images to and from HTML5 canvas. Creating the previews of the postcards using angular directives. Integrating many Cordova plugins and JavaScript libraries. Creating a cordova plugin for the Adobe Creative SDK (work in progress).
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Handling large images, the modularity of the solution.
What I learned
It takes a lot of hard work to take an app to a production level!
What's next for Souvenirs
Still working on proper integration of the Feather Editor in the Android version. Creation of magnets.
