Inspiration

I love late night wikipedia sessions on history-related topics, and I've always found online narrative/consensus-building a fascinating topic. The combo of these interests sparked the idea - what if I had a neat little evidence mapping tool in my pocket? Now, I didn't really create one, but Sourceful is as close as it gets to a narrative dissector - an app that shows how a version of something might be formed.

What it does

Sourceful builds info graphs around user-submitted claims. The tool is primarily intended for history/humanities topics research and aims to identify sources that go into a certain idea/preconception - if there are any at all (focus on legitimate resources). How we built it

Codex with GPT-5.6!!!!!! The whole thing was conceived with a minimal conceptual and visual scaffolding from my side, built, tested, pushed and deployed all within the same chat. From an idea to a couple of feedback loops, to the wrap-up.

Challenges we ran into

I really didn't have much time to build observability or a real user database, nor into adding layers such as work with embeddings or adding multiple different indexes. Likewise, hardening the conditions for resource scoring was a tad more challenging than thought, and would require some additional work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The tool actually makes it fun to explore written content, and provides a relativeley non-biased response formed on all the sources pulled in. It's all basics, but still cool.

What we learned

Learned that finding sources is the easy part, figuring out whether they are actually independent, relevant, or just repeating one another is harder.

What's next for Sourceful - Truth Modelling in Your Pocket

Hardening for the scoring/evaluation system, ability to reach deep within different indexes and databases to create incredibly layered and massive networks, making it truly possible to identify the source 0 (the earliest identifiable provenance path). Basically - turning it into a spider that allows verifying any type of information.
