We were inspired by the issue of food waste, particularly the disposal of excess food from restaurants. These cooked meals were being thrown away, while many others went hungry. Thus, it would be beneficial if the excess food could be channeled towards soup kitchens and food banks, so they could better serve those in need.
What it does
plento bento is a soup kitchen’s first stop when gathering food to share with the homeless. On this dashboard, restaurants can offer their excess meals, and soup kitchens will be able to receive them for distribution.
How we built it
The project prototype was mainly built using Figma.
Challenges we ran into
We took a long time deciding on our topic, so there ended up not being enough time to fully implement it. In the end, we decided that a high-fidelity prototype would be effective and doable in the tight time frame.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the cute original graphics and themed design of our website.
What we learned
We learned that time management is incredibly important. We spent an incredible amount of time just going back and forth between ideas when we really should have just picked an idea and gone forward with it.
What's next for plento bento
Implementation of the functionalities expressed in our demo using React.
