The inspiration behind Soundscribe comes from a place of childlike nostalgia and an attempt to encapsulate the magic behind old school rhythm/typing games of the early 2000s. Our developer team consists of individuals who feel passionate towards music and gaming alike, sharing our love through the creation of this project. Soundscribe is a videogame that combines both speed-typing and rhythm game mechanics into something that provides a unique experience for the player. There are also RPG elements that will allow the player to interact with NPCs before each encounter. We experimented with Godot Engine before we decided to finalize the demo on Scratch in order to extend our time efficiency. The challenges we faced were mostly time and insufficient experience. We finalized the general idea by the second day whilst the coding and asset creation time was highly limited. Regardless of those setbacks, we are proud of the fact that we were able to accomplish a videogame idea and finalize the prototype in the span of only 36 hours. Most of the learning experience stems from time calculation and the experimentation with Godot Engine. Our dev team feels prepared to take Soundscribe to the next level by advancing the mechanics, assets, and complete the final product by next year.
