Inspiration
Music is fundamentally ingrained in human culture. Everyone has desire to express themselves through sound. Popular apps like Instagram and Snapchat have encouraged public to express themselves visually. Now everyone can be a photographer even without fancy equipment and art school thanks to Instagram. Why isn’t there a single convenient, accessible way to express ourselves through music and sound?
What it does
We provide tools that have only been available to professional musicians such as music software, hardwares. Thanks to the Web Audio API, a high-level JavaScript API for processing and synthesizing audio in web applications.
Now everyone can create unique sound and filter for songs using web audio, regardless of budget, talent and experience. For example, they can use their own version of 'let it b e' for instagram stories.
How we built it
We used Web Audio API, React, Node.js mainly and referred to music production softwares such as Ableton.
Challenges we ran into
We wish we had more time to show its capability.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
People have joy of expressing themselves through music.
What we learned
Music is for everyone.
What's next for Soundgram
A limited preset of filters are freely available. More advanced filters can be purchased. We will provide a marketplace for users to sell and purchase their filters and sound snippets that can be used over songs, videos and pictures.
We will provide even easier tools for users to create their own sound. We will include more devices such as home audio with Google Assistant or Amazon Echo, so that users can share their sound easily. We will add voice over recording functionality for advanced personalisation. You can add sound filters, instrumental sounds, voice to existing songs or create your own songs.
