Inspiration
Let's be honest - I didn't set out to build some profound spiritual tool. I was just another burnt-out human drowning in to-do lists, drinking hot coffee at 3 PM while my phone buzzed with notifications. The "aha" moment came when I caught myself Googling "why does everything feel meaningless" for the third time that week. All those productivity apps kept telling me to do more, but what I needed was something to help me be "ME" more. So I built SoulScript - not because I had some grand vision, but because I needed a place where my existential dread could meet something wiser than my Twitter feed.
What it does
SoulScript is like that one friend who actually listens instead of just waiting for their turn to talk. You dump your messy thoughts ("Why am I like this?"), and it:
Actually understands when you're venting vs. actually asking for advice
Pulls from ancient texts (Bhagavad Gita, Bible, etc.) but explains them like a human ("Krishna isn't saying quit your job - he's saying chill about outcomes")
Remembers your patterns (turns out I write "I'm so tired" every Monday at 2:37 PM)
Doesn't preach - no "just meditate!" nonsense when you're mid-meltdown
How we built it
The whole thing runs on Bolt.new because:
I can't code to save my life
Their AI workflows let me Frankenstein together:
a. A journal input form (basically a digital scream into the void) b. Emotion analysis that actually works ("frustrated" vs "angry" vs "existential despair") c. A verse database that doesn't just spit out random quotes d. Response generator that sounds human (after approximately 30 failed attempts)
Challenges we ran into
The AI kept being toxically positive Early versions would respond to "I hate my job" with "Every job is a blessing! " Cue uninstall rage.
Cultural appropriation paranoia Almost had a heart attack when someone typed "karma" and the AI mashed up Hindu concepts with pop psychology. Now it cites sources properly.
The 'too real' problem When the AI accurately called out someone's avoidance patterns, they got mad. Turns out people want wisdom... but not "that" much wisdom.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Real humans cried (in a good way)
Built something I actually use
Respected the source material no twisting scriptures to fit modern productivity culture.
What we learned
People want to be understood, not fixed
Wisdom needs context
No-code is magic (Built a functioning AI app without writing a single line of code. Still feels illegal.)
What's next for SoulScript: AI Life Companion
Voice journaling, because sometimes you need to process life while ugly-crying in your car.
"Oh, THIS is your pattern" alerts. Like: "You journal about loneliness every full moon. Maybe call a friend tonight?"
Community wisdom that is letting users anonymously share what helped them.
Anti-productivity mode. Like a button that says: "No, you don't need to optimize your life today. Here's a poem instead."
