Project Story for SoulDeeds
Inspiration
In a world dominated by superficial "swipe culture," modern matchmaking apps often fail the global Muslim community. Most platforms focus on two-second judgments based on filtered photos and job titles, completely ignoring the most crucial element for a successful marriage: Akhlaq (Character). Inspired by the Prophetic tradition—"The best of people are those most beneficial to others"—we set out to build SoulDeeds. We wanted to create a platform where people connect not just through profiles, but through shared purpose and community service. We believe you truly know someone when you see them in action, serving others.
What it does
SoulDeeds is a revolutionary matrimonial ecosystem that combines faith, service, and meaningful connection: Soul Meter: A character-first assessment engine that helps users discover their "Service Style" and value-based compatibility. Community Service Hub: A marketplace for virtual and local volunteer projects. Potential partners work together on non-profit initiatives (like Eid drives or education projects) before initiating private conversations. Soul Circle: A content hub providing faith-based insights and relationship guidance. Privacy-First Design: Features like blurred profiles and initials-only names ensure modesty (Haya) and safety, revealing identities only when trust is built through shared actions.
How we built it
The intelligence of SoulDeeds is powered by Gemini 3 via Google AI Studio. We leveraged Gemini 3’s advanced reasoning and creative capabilities for: Character Logic: The "Soul Meter" quizzes use Gemini 3 to map user responses to psychological and faith-based personas, providing high-accuracy compatibility insights. Content Generation: 100% of our faith-based articles in the "Soul Circle" are generated and refined using Gemini 3 to ensure a tone that is both respectful and engaging. Smart UX Copy: We used Gemini 3 to optimize the website's storytelling and copywriting, ensuring our message of "Character over Consumption" resonates with the global Ummah. Tech Stack: Built with Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and Node.js/MongoDB, with the core AI integration being the Gemini 3 API.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was creating a "matrimonial" space that didn't feel like a "dating app." We had to carefully balance high-end UI design with Islamic principles of modesty. Tuning the Gemini 3 prompts to maintain a "warm, respectful, and faith-centered" tone across the platform took several iterations in AI Studio, but the result is a seamless and dignified user experience.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are incredibly proud of building a functional, full-stack platform that successfully integrates AI-driven character profiling with a real-world volunteer management system. Seeing the "Soul Meter" provide genuine, deep insights into a user's personality was a "Eureka" moment for our team.
What we learned
Building with Gemini 3 taught us the power of Large Language Models in Persona Mapping. We learned that AI can be a tool for good (Barakah) when used to facilitate human connections based on values rather than just visual attraction.
What's next for SoulDeeds
We are planning to implement AI-powered Match Suggestions using Gemini 3 to analyze "Service Styles" and historical project participation. This will allow the system to suggest "Deed Partners" who are statistically more likely to share the same long-term life vision and community commitment.
