Inspiration

Healthcare emergencies don't wait. But international payments do.

We kept seeing the same painful reality — someone abroad has the money, the hospital needs it now, and the system makes them wait days while charging fees nobody warned them about. And nobody — not the sender, not the family, not even the hospital — knows if the bill amount is even accurate.

That gap between having money and being able to use it in a medical emergency — that's what SoulBridge was built to close.

What it does

SoulBridge lets individuals pay hospital bills for their family members directly — from anywhere in the world.

• You log in and add the family members you're protecting
• The hospital sends a bill — you upload it
• Our AI audits it instantly against real medical pricing data and tells you what's fair, what's inflated, and what's negotiable
• You pay directly to the verified hospital using HealthCoin
• The blockchain confirms it — you get a real transaction hash, traceable forever

Two dashboards. One for individuals managing family healthcare payments. One for hospitals tracking incoming bills and confirmations. Both sides have full visibility. No mystery. No middlemen.

How we built it

Next.js + TypeScript frontend, Firebase for authentication, Supabase as our database, Gemini AI for bill auditing, Polygon blockchain for transactions, and MetaMask for wallet connection.

Challenges we ran into

Building a system that connects five different layers — the user, their family, the hospital, the AI, and the blockchain — and making it feel simple was the hardest part. Real blockchain integration that isn't just simulation took significant effort. Making the AI bill audit actually useful and accurate, not just a feature, required a lot of iteration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The AI bill audit works. You upload a real hospital bill and get back three real numbers — fair, inflated, negotiable. That's never existed before for the person paying from abroad.

The full payment loop is functional — login, verify, upload, audit, pay, confirm, on blockchain.

What we learned

The problem is bigger than we thought when we started. And the people who need this the most are the ones the current system ignores completely.

What's next for SoulBridge

Hospital onboarding partnerships, mobile app, real smart contract deployment on Polygon mainnet, and expanding beyond healthcare to all family remittance use cases.
