Inspiration
I had a meditation ball and wondered if I could make a game about rolling a ball around but make it more interesting.
What it does
You roll a ball around, you talk to these NPCs who tell you about the state of reality in this dimension and all seem to have strange sayings and unique ways of saying it.
How I built it
I had some help from Panda3d Game Engine chatroom, but soon took it a lot farther and did most of the work myself. I used Blender to make the balls, levels, NPCs, and portals, etc. I used some textures I made and edited in Inkscape, and used Python and Panda3d Game Engine to code the game.
Challenges I ran into
I had some issues making the dialog in Chinese and it's probably hard to understand somewhat. Some of the textures were difficult and the visuals had to be fine tuned to not make it too painful for the eyes.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
So far no seizures...I need to add that epilepsy warning or a video filter that takes out the red frequencies from the colors. First (or maybe second) PC Game I actually completed by myself(mostly!)
What I learned
I learned a lot of Python and some stuff about physics and geometry etc.
What's next for Soul Symphony?
I want to see what I can do to make it more challenging or have a sort of "Mission" mode where you can do quests like finding things or racing the clock to pick up notes. I may also translate it to a different language.
