Inspiration

The music itself was as usual the primary source of inspiration: the synergy between words, melody, and vocal timbre naturally generated images in my mind. The archetypal theme of the father at war — atavistic, ancestral, universal — guided the emotional arc of the film. I was moved by the transdimensional bond between the wounded soldier and his wife: a love that persists beyond distance, pain, and death. Eros and Thanatos intertwine — the will to survive, the absurdity and devastation of war, and the quiet dignity of the woman who waits, refusing to collapse under grief. This emotional polarity forms the heart of the piece.

What it does

The film transforms a traditional Corsican lullaby into a visual poem about human fragility and resilience. It creates an intimate, dreamlike narrative suspended between memory and vision, where the soldier drifts on the threshold of life and death while his wife senses him across the invisible distance. The experience is contemplative, emotional, and timeless — neither documentary nor literal storytelling, but a delicate evocation of love’s persistence through tragedy.

How we built it

The entire visual world was crafted through generative AI — Dreamina, Grok, and GPT — where every image begins as words: prompts shaped to translate inner vision into cinematic fragments. These images were then edited, curated, synchronised, and woven around the neo-classical orchestration I composed. The montage relies on the dialogue between emotions carried by the music and those suggested by the imagery, creating a unified aesthetic born from the meeting of sound and vision.

Challenges we ran into

The greatest challenge was to evoke war without falling into barbarity or cliché. The original song is fragile, almost a lullaby — yet the subject is tragic. Finding the right balance between softness and epic intensity, between dream and drama, was essential. I had to read between the lines of the traditional lyrics, honour the heritage, and simultaneously push it beyond its usual boundaries. Maintaining emotional sincerity and modesty while crafting a narrative arc demanded constant fine-tuning.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud of the alchemy that appears when the images and music converge — a moment where the film suddenly feels alive, carrying an emotion that wasn’t fully predictable. Creating an intimate human drama through generative means, while preserving the authenticity of Corsican heritage, was both challenging and deeply rewarding.

What we learned

This project was an immersion into human tragedy, almost like writing a novel through images and sound. I learned how generative tools, when guided by emotional intuition and cultural respect, can express subtle forms of tenderness, memory, and longing.

What's next for Sotta Lu ponte

This film is part of an expanding anthology of musical and visual reinterpretations. I hope to integrate it into a future live concert, where these cinematic pieces will be projected behind the musicians — transforming the performance into a multisensory narrative experience.
